This post’s title speaks for itself: today we’re going to give you a quick run through the main stocks we use, from a technical and eco perspective. These stocks are all environmentally responsible, most of them certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), and we’ve included links to the manufacturers’ websites and spec sheets wherever possible.

First we have Ball Doggett’s 104058 Neo Cast Coated S/G, 250 GSM* (manufacturer’s specs for Neo Cast). This is a high-gloss (one-sided) coated stock, well suited to digital applications. It’s a good, bulky, stiff stock and handles cutting and creasing well. It’s FSC certified, elemental chlorine free (which dramatically reduces the formation of carcinogenic dioxins) and sourced from well-managed forests that have been certified and audited to ensure they comply with environmentally sustainable practice.

Next is Ball Doggett’s Titan Plus 106414 (128 GSM, 170gsm and 250 GSM) (manufacturer’s specs for Titan Plus), a double-coated A2 paper with a lovely smooth surface for great print results. This is another bulky stock with good opacity, and has certifications from HP and Canon for its performance with their inks. FSC certified and elemental chlorine free.

We also have Ball Doggett’s Pearl 105014 310 GSM artboard (manufacturer’s specs for Pearl artboard), an exceptional-quality, sturdy stock that folds and creases well. It has a smooth printing surface and works well with digital printing. The Pearl is FSC certified, elemental chlorine free and and sourced from well-managed forests that have been certified and audited to ensure they comply with environmentally sustainable practice.

Ball Doggett’s Supreme Laser Folio 120 GSM (manufacturer’s specs for Supreme Laser Folio) is an acid-free, archival paper, meaning it is an especially permanent and durable stock. The international standard for permanence requires a pH of 7.5-8.5, at least 2% calcium carbonate, and no ground wood or unbleached fibre. Paper that meets this standard can be expected to last more than 100 years! This one is PEFC certified, elemental chlorine free and and sourced from well-managed forests that have been certified and audited to ensure they comply with environmentally sustainable practice.

Finally in the Ball Doggett range is the Supreme System Board 300 GSM (manufacturer’s specs for Supreme System Board). This is another acid-free archival paper stock that we use. At 300 GSM, it’s nice and bulky, and its smoothness gives great print performance. It is PEFC certified, elemental chlorine free and and sourced from well-managed forests that have been certified and audited to ensure they comply with environmentally sustainable practice.

All of Ball Doggett’s paper stocks are ISO 14001 compliant.

We also use the Lux Mono White Lined Graphic Board from BMS (manufacturer’s specs for Lux Mono), a sturdy board that is 100% recycled.

* GSM stands for grams per square metre, a measurement that tells you about the weight of the paper. An ordinary sheet of office printer paper is 80 GSM.
